For years, Panamanians kept re-electing the same politicians, even those with open corruption cases. The excuse was always the same: "they steal, but they get things done."
Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the citizen movement Movin asked us to break that habit.
We took a gesture every Panamanian already knows, pulling down your lower eyelid to say "keep your eyes open", and turned it into a symbol of protest. Billboards, social and street pointed straight at deputies with open cases.
The campaign got loud enough to be challenged by the authorities, and that only made more people pay attention.
+8,000 followers in two months and millions of impressions. The hashtag was trending topic in Panamá more than once.














The Electoral Tribunal ordered our billboards down. The removal itself became the news.
